Fine gold, jacutinga e Mount Zion will be part of the “Path of the Italian Immigrant”. The route will make reference to the Italians who landed in the three cities in the south of Minas Gerais in the 1890s.
The objective is to publicize the history of ancestors through the paths they took until they settled in the municipalities, as well as their stories and traditions.
The “Italian Immigrant Path” project – approved by Minas Gerais deputies – has the support of Consulate General of Italy in Belo Horizonte.

The south of Minas Gerais was one of the main destinations of Italian immigration in Brazil. Ouro Fino, Jacutinga and Monte Sião were the cities that received the most Italians.
Now, a project authored by deputy Dalmo Ribeiro da Silva (PSDB), which is being processed in the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, intends to turn the municipality of Ouro Fino into the “Birthplace of Italian Immigration".
According to a bulletin published in 1908 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the then Kingdom of Italy, the Società Umberto Principe di Piemonte it had already been established in Ouro Fino in 1904, with 20 initial members.
The same diplomatic report stated that, in 1908, Ouro Fino had 8.800 Italian immigrants, while Belo Horizonte, for example, only had 2.800.
