Holiday bonus: minister suggests “oxygen” for the struggling Italian tourism sector
A bonus of 500 Euros – around R$2.900 – per family unit in Italy to spend their next vacation within the country. The idea is shared by the Minister of Equal Opportunities and Family, Elena Bonetti.
Without visitors due to the coronavirus, Italy fears a strong financial impact on several holiday destinations, especially coastal ones.

“I proposed a bonus of €500, per family, especially with minor children, to spend the vacation in Italy. It serves the world of tourism: a small amount of oxygen for an industry on its knees”, retweeted the minister. The original post was by Maria Elena Boschi, from the Italia Viva party, a party founded by Matteo Renzi after his departure from the Democratic Party.
