Neymar and his partner Bruna Biancardi were at the Italian Consulate General in São Paulo to begin the process of obtaining Italian citizenship for their two minor daughters. The information was confirmed by the consulate itself, according to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, this Friday (15). The procedure follows current Italian legislation for acquiring nationality “by benefit of law”.

The girls' citizenship is viable because Bruna Fonseca Biancardi Ribeiro already holds dual Italian-Brazilian nationality. According to Italian law, children of an Italian mother or father are entitled to citizenship.by virtue of law"regardless of the country of birth."
