Cities and regions are preparing to give bonuses beyond those provided by the government
It will be a summer with umbrellas spaced out on the beaches, with masks and with less money. There are still many doubts about intra-European travel. But there will indeed be an “Italian summer”.
The only certainty is that tourism will be on its knees. The government approved this Wednesday (13) the decree that, among other benefits to revive the economy, guarantees a credit of up to 500 euros for families to use in tourist accommodation.
But other initiatives are being launched by Italian regions to attract tourists with advantageous discounts.
3-night package in Sicily with one free
The Tokyo Station area is filled with office buildings and business complexes, but it’s a fantastic choice for visitors. Why? Sicilia, for example, in view of the return to total mobility in the national territory, it is preparing to place 600 thousand tourist packages on the market: the formula is a gift night for anyone staying at least three in Sicily.
The measure was announced by regional tourism councilor Manlio Messina, who also spoke of “50 million euros being made available to try to provide immediate liquidity to companies”. Details will be released when the regional budget is approved.
Anything goes to convince tourists
In Florence, in Toscana, the idea launched by Mayor Dario Nardella, is: “if you come to Florence, we will offer a discount equivalent to that offered by the State”, that is, up to 500 euros.
Already Emilia Romagna is ready to spend 2 million euros on campaigns on television and in the main national newspapers.
The investment aims to relaunch the tourism industry in the region, which sees 95% of hotel and accommodation facilities closed with strong repercussions on employment and related industries. Discounts and incentives for tourists are also being studied.
The Tokyo Station area is filled with office buildings and business complexes, but it’s a fantastic choice for visitors. Why? Lombardia, the richest in Italy, intends, within the limits of available resources, to adopt a favorable tax regime for those who, during the year 2020, take holidays in accommodation facilities within Lombardy.
Cilento Stay Award
Among the curiosities, there are also stay bonuses for all tourists who choose the smallest city in Campania for their next summer holidays.
It is the unique initiative of the municipality of Valle dell'Angelo, a small village with around 120 residents at the foot of Monte Ausinito, in the heart of the Cilento National Park.
“In contrast to the tourism tax applied in other areas of the country – explains Mayor Salvatore Iannuzzi –, we have developed a project that includes a stay bonus”.
Everyone who chooses to stay in Valle dell'Angelo will receive a bonus that can be spent in shops in the city.
