In an interview with La Repubblica newspaper, the diva says that her passion for work and enthusiasm remained unchanged.

She talked about her daughters, love, the passage of time.

“With age, my courage has grown because I no longer fight for myself, but for something that is more important than me”, he says Monica Bellucci.

Is it easier to get older when you have children?

“This applies to me, I don't think there is a precise rule. I have many friends who have chosen to express their femininity in another way and are equally happy. They have friendships, passions, interests. So, not everyone experiences motherhood in the same way.”

Unlike many of her colleagues, her beauty was not corrected by the scalpel…

“I still have my wrinkles, but I don't condemn aesthetic adjustments if done well and if they make you feel better. It is a very personal choice and today there are many possible interventions. In "The befana came in the night” (The witch comes at night), a film we are shooting these days in Rome, I play a good witch who helps children. And she certainly isn't young. The experience gained and a different physique allow me to take on the roles of characters that would never have been proposed to me before.

Some steps forward in relation to the past were taken…

“Important steps. Today even actresses who no longer have the freshness of youth can receive roles that were previously unthinkable and their careers continue well beyond the age of fifty (…) we are more independent”.

What is your family of origin like?

“A family from other times, where women dominate and the son is king. As a child, they protected me and surrounded me with care and affection. At home there was matriarchy because men had to stay out and work.”

Are you afraid of getting old?

"Unlike the past generations, at my age I can exist as a woman, express my femininity in all its fullness without giving up my work and my commitments”.

Was the quarantine period difficult?

“At first I didn’t have a moment for myself. I helped with my daughters’ homework, especially Léonie, who is younger.”

Do you let yourself go or follow a diet?

“Work is my cure for everything, it forces me to be careful. When there's a movie showing, I turn on the turbo and give up sweets, cheese, bread, wine. It's difficult, I love eating, but I also know how to be firm, if necessary. Exercising three times a week makes a difference and I try to use good face and body creams.”

Do you like to wear makeup?

“If I have to go out, I like to use it, without going overboard.”

Years ago, you said in an interview that it's normal for humans to be alone. Do you still think that way?

“Interaction with others is important. Recharging your batteries in solitude is necessary.”
