The city of Rome, in Italy, inaugurated a temporary footbridge over the last Saturday (9). Trevi Fountain, one of the most popular monuments in the country's capital and the world.
The structure, which will only be removed in December, when the preservation works on the 18th century monument are finished, allows tourists to view the Trevi Fountain from a different angle.
The panoramic walkway is authorized to accommodate approximately 130 people at a time, and the first person to walk on it was the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, during the inauguration ceremony.
“Today, the walkway was inaugurated, which will provide a unique view during the maintenance work, which is important and necessary for the conservation of the fountain. It will be a quick job, but being able to see the statues up close is truly extraordinary, a unique perspective,” said the politician.

Tourists of various nationalities have already used the walkway throughout the day. It is worth noting that there is no need to pay to access the space, but the traditional act of throwing coins is prohibited while on the structure. People who break the rules will be “sanctioned”.
To this end, the City Hall recently installed a pool in front of the Trevi Fountain so that tourists can throw coins into it during the cleaning work. Gualtieri revealed that more than 10 thousand euros (R$ 61,3 thousand) were raised in one week. (HANDLE)
