Lovers of authentic Neapolitan pizza can celebrate: L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele, a classic Italian pizzeria famous for its appearance in the film “Eat, Pray, Love” (2010), will open its first unit in Brazil in 2025.
The arrival of the chain in São Paulo promises to maintain the tradition that made it a global reference.
Tradition and simplicity
Founded in 1870 in Naples, the city considered the birthplace of pizza, Da Michele is known for its authenticity. Its menu remains true to its Neapolitan roots, offering only two classic flavors: Margherita and Marinara.
The limited selection reinforces the house's commitment to the quality of the ingredients and the artisanal technique passed down for over 150 years.
The pizzeria's popularity grew after the iconic scene from “Eat Pray Love”, in which Julia Roberts, playing Liz Gilbert, enjoys a pizza from Michele in Naples.
Since then, the place has become a must-see stop for tourists, who face long lines to try the classic round.

Authenticity on São Paulo soil
The São Paulo unit, which arrives in Brazil through the hands of restaurateur Frédéric Renaut, will bring the original Neapolitan experience, with imported ingredients and the same preparation method as the Italian headquarters. The expectation is that it will follow the standard of the branches in the United States and the United Kingdom, and may also include new features.
There is still no confirmed date for the opening or a set address, but it is speculated that the unit will be installed in the Jardins neighborhood. With this, São Paulo joins the select group of cities that have welcomed Da Michele, consolidating its position as one of the main gastronomic hubs in the world.
