The Italian Institute of Culture of São Paulo (IIC-SP) announced the creation of a reading club aimed at contemporary female writers from the European country, with monthly meetings between March and June.
The free and in-person event will feature the book “Cassandra in Mogadishu”, by Igiaba Scego, an Italian daughter of Somali immigrants nominated for the Strega Prize, the most important literary prize in the “Belpaese”, and winner of other national awards; and “A Hidden Feather”, by renowned author Lisa Ginzburg, granddaughter of writer Natalia Ginzburg and daughter of historian Carlo Ginzburg.
The first debate will be on March 20, about Scego's work.
To participate in the meetings, led by teacher and writer Maria Carolina Casati, it is necessary to register in advance via email: [email protected] The books can also be purchased at a discount by those registered, and the events always take place from 19 pm to 21 pm, at the IIC headquarters at Avenida Higienópolis, 436.
