The 37th edition of the traditional Italian Festival in the Colônia neighborhood, in Jundiaí (SP), begins this Saturday, May 17, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. With support from Jundiaí City Hall, the event runs until June 15 and is expected to attract thousands of visitors.
On this first Saturday, the event will only take place in the church's parish hall. From the 24th onwards, the festival will also take place at Praça José Orlandi, with activities taking place on the weekends.
Opening with Faith and Music
The party will open with a mass at 18 pm, followed by a typical Italian dinner at 20 pm in the parish hall. Tickets are on sale by calling (11) 96687-8541 and (11) 4584-1406.
The night will feature performances by the group Happy Italy e The Brazilian Tenors, which promise to take the public on a musical journey through Italian culture.
Gastronomy and news
From May 24th to June 15th, Praça José Orlandi will be the stage for the main program, on Saturdays from 18pm to 22pm and Sundays from 11am to 16pm.
The public will be able to taste dishes such as lasagna, risotto, fried polenta, focaccia, gnocchi, breaded chicken, traditional sweets and crustuli — a fried dessert typical of Calabria.
Among this year's new products is the Italian mortadella sandwich, inspired by the famous sandwich from the Municipal Market of São Paulo.
