The town of new veniceThe city of Goiás will host the 19th edition of the Italian Festival from June 5th to 8th, an event that celebrates the traditions of Italian immigration. The expectation is to attract around 130 people with a free program that blends culture, music, and cuisine.
Featuring performances by tenors, choirs, folk dances, and traditional dishes, the festival brings together more than 90 exhibitors of food, crafts, and beverages. Gastronomy remains a highlight, with an expanded menu but no price increase compared to the previous edition. "We expanded the range of dishes without adjusting prices, offering an accessible and authentic gastronomic experience, especially during this delicate economic time," says Maria do Carmo Basílio, the event coordinator.
Among the national attractions are the Tenors of Brazil and the Italian-Brazilian Folklore Group from Santa Catarina. Artists from Goiás also gain space, such as the String Quintet of the Goiás Philharmonic Orchestra, the singer Almir Pessoa and the Versatto Band.
One of the most anticipated moments is the performance of the children's choir Venice Vocations, formed by 38 students from the Frain Faquim School and conducted by Irailde Pereira. The group has already revealed talents who have pursued musical careers. The adult choir Friends of Venice, with ten volunteer singers, also performs, along with artists such as Anna Paula Drigo, Valdir Amaral, Izadora Cruz, Jordanna Félix and the Tenores di Veneza, Alex and Weber Rosa.
To better accommodate the public, the structure was reinforced with a digital menu, more tables and chairs and renovation of the bathrooms in Praça Matriz. Parking will be free during the four days of the event.
