Netflix announced last Monday (13) that the Italian series “The Leopard” will premiere on March 5.
Furthermore, from today, it is possible to watch the trailer for the production on the platform, which features Italian actor Kim Rossi Stuart as the protagonist.
With six episodes, the series is based on the great eponymous classic of Italian literature, written by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, whose epic story is set in the region of Sicily during the revolts of 1860.
The central character, Don Fabrizio Corbera, Prince of Salina, leads a wealthy life full of privileges. However, the Sicilian aristocracy feels threatened by the unification of Italy and Fabrizio realizes that his future and that of his family are in danger.
In order not to succumb, the prince will be forced to make new alliances, even if it goes against his principles, such as organizing a marriage, which would save his family, between the rich and beautiful Angelica and his nephew Tancredi, but, in doing so, he would break the heart of his beloved daughter Concetta.
In addition to Stuart in the role of Don Fabrizio Corbera, the adaptation also features Benedetta Porcaroli as Concetta, Deva Cassel plays Angelica and Saul Nanni plays the role of Tancredi.
Written by Richard Warlow and Benji Walters, the series rediscovers the modernity of history, comparing Italy past and present through timeless themes: power, love and the cost of progress. (HANDLE)
