The Carnival of Venice, in Italy, one of the most famous in the world, opens its festivities this Friday (14) with the theme “In the time of Casanova”, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of one of the city's most legendary figures, the writer and adventurer Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798).
The opening of the party will take place tonight in the iconic Piazza San Marco, which will welcome revelers with a program that mixes history, art and legends with various shows.

Among the main attractions is the musical “Casanova Operapop”, which, in the voices of Jacopo Sarno and Silvia Scartozzoni, will tell the adventures of the Venetian seducer and intellectual.
The first weekend of the festival will feature the traditional and colorful aquatic procession of typical Venetian boats.
The 2025 edition of the Venice Carnival runs until March 4, with a program that includes competitions for the “most beautiful mask”, gastronomic experiences typical of the capital of Veneto, theatrical and musical performances, as well as guided tours of places linked to the history of Casanova.
The adventurer was born in the capital of Veneto on April 2, 1725. A lover of the world, he traveled throughout much of Europe, meeting important figures such as the King of France Louis XV and the Austrian musician Amadeus Mozart. But it was his countless lovers and his restless style that made his name an international legend. (HANDLE)
