Italy registered 4.458 new cases of coronavirus this Thursday
Italy reported 4.458 new cases of the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus on Thursday (8), the highest number for a single day since April 11, when 4.694 infections were recorded.
At that time, the country was still experiencing lockdown decreed by the government to combat the pandemic and which was in force until May 18th.
According to the updated bulletin of the Ministry of Health, Italy now has 338.398 positive cases and 36.083 deaths caused by the new coronavirus, after an increase of 22 victims in 24 hours, nine fewer than the previous day.
MASKS EVERYWHERE
Italians must also wear masks everywhere except private homes.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said tougher measures were needed to avoid a return to an economically devastating lockdown.
“From now on, masks and protective equipment must be brought with us when we leave home and must be used. We always have to use them, unless we are in a situation of continuous isolation,” he said.
Masks must also be worn in shops, offices, on public transport and in bars and restaurants when customers are not seated at a table.
