The town of Farroupilha, in Serra Gaúcha, began the celebrations of 150 years of Italian Immigration in Rio Grande do Sul with the launch of the 21st Meeting of Italian Traditions (ENTRAI) and the 25th National Kiwi Festival (Fenakiwi).
The event took place on Thursday night (13) and featured cultural presentations and the presence of the municipality's sovereigns.
Culture and tradition
During the ceremony, the director of AM9 Produções, Anderson Moraes, highlighted the differences between the events:
“ENTRAI has a cultural focus, centered on the 'talian' music of Italian immigrants, while Fenakiwi encompasses different rhythms. We will have more than 30 shows at ENTRAI, including performances of German music and artists such as 'Os Atuais' and 'Os Fagundes',” he explained.
Mayor Jonas Tomazini highlighted the importance of holding the city’s two biggest celebrations in a year of recovery after the climate disasters that impacted the region. “We hope to welcome people from all over the state to celebrate this special moment,” he said.

150 years of Italian immigration in RS
In 2025 the Rio Grande do Sul celebrates 150 years since the arrival of the first Italian immigrants, who founded Nova Milano, in Farroupilha, on May 20, 1875. To mark the date, a series of events will be held throughout the year, integrating the ENTRAI and Fenakiwi festivities.
Descendants keep Italian traditions alive in gastronomy, religion and language 'talian', preserving the cultural heritage that helped shape the region’s identity.
