Italian companies Arsenale and Trenitalia presented this Tuesday (15) a railway tourism project in which luxury trains offer an itinerary for passengers to rediscover the beauties of Italy.
Dubbed "Dolce Vita," the idea was launched at Rome's Ostiense train station, in the presence of, among others, the Ministers of Tourism, Massimo Garavaglia, and Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, as well as the Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi.

The project will offer a “slow” and sustainable journey aboard luxurious transport to explore the country's best-known regions and less frequented destinations. The service is expected to open in January 2023.
“It is a project that values Rome and tourism in our country”, said Raggi, emphasizing: “The Dolce Vita train is a name that remembers Rome and the entire imaginary of our country and of Rome in the world”.

From Alpine peaks to the crystal-clear beaches of Sicily
The plan foresees the operation of five trains and 10 iconic routes – on trips lasting one to three nights –, crossing 14 regions and passing through 128 cities, through 16 thousand kilometers of passable railway lines, 7 thousand of which are not electrified. The routes, in fact, range from Alpine peaks to the crystal-clear beaches of Sicily.
The trains will have 20 suites and 12 luxury cabins, totaling 32 beds each. The total capacity will be 64 passengers, with the aim of transporting 74 thousand passengers by 2026.
“It’s a train designed not to reach a destination, but as a vacation experience itself,” explained the general director of FS Italiane Foundation, Luigi Cantamessa.
