The vice-president of the Italian Senate, Licia Ronzulli, defended equal pay between men and women in a speech given last Wednesday (6), during the summit of parliamentary representatives of the G20, in Brasília.
“For a true and concrete overcoming of the gender gap, it is necessary for women and girls to achieve full economic emancipation and be able to find a balance between work and private life,” said the senator from the conservative Forza Italia (FI) party.
According to Ronzulli, “the adoption of measures to reconcile family and professional life is the stumbling block of occupational growth policies for women, who should not continue to be forced to choose between one or the other”.
For Italian politicians, the lack of financial education is one of the main obstacles to female empowerment, as it prevents women from achieving economic independence.
“On this issue, the Italian Parliament has shown great sensitivity by approving a law that introduced the teaching of financial education into the curricula of schools at all levels, starting from primary school, during the current academic year,” she added.
Finally, Ronzulli highlighted that “providing information and knowledge is an indispensable tool for building the emancipation of tomorrow.” (HANDLE)
