Accustomed to the traditional oxtail accompanied by a (or several) dose of cachaça, the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his dissatisfaction with the food Italian, criticizing the small portions and excessive sophistication of the dishes.
During a weekly live broadcast, Squid shared his impressions of the food served during official events in Italy, expressing his disappointment regarding the meals offered.

“I can’t get used to it. I need quantity. It may be sweet [the right word would be gulodice] on my part, but I like quantity, an oxtail, a chicken, a chicken with okra, a fried pork chop... There's nothing better. And we don't find many of these things out there. Everything is very sophisticated there and, sometimes, we don’t even know what it is,” added Lula on live.
Lula's complaints about gastronomy during his international trips caught the attention of the press, being highlighted in renowned vehicles, such as the Washington Post newspaper and the Bloomberg agency.
The Italian news agency, Askanews, also reported the former Brazilian president's indelicacies, mentioning his opinion about the small portions served at Quirinale, the seat of the Italian government.
