Fire destroys 20-story building in Milan

A fire on Sunday (29) burned most of a 20-story residential building in Milan, northern Italy. There are initially no victims, despite the size of the flames and the amount of smoke.

The fire started on the upper floors of this tower, located on the outskirts of the capital of the region of Lombardia, and “spread to lower levels,” firefighters reported on Twitter.

About 70 families lived in the building, which firefighters are reviewing to ensure no residents were trapped.

“We are optimistic because people had time to flee,” Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala told the newspaper “Corriere della Sera".

According to the newspaper, around 20 residents had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
