In Italy, December 25th and 26th, Christmas Day and St. Stephen's Day, are national holidays. Christmas Eve is not an official holiday, but many employers give their employees time off.

This year, with the dates falling in the middle of the week, many will take advantage of the opportunity to take a day off on Friday, December 27, creating a “bridge” to a long weekend.

Public transport

Local transport operates on reduced timetables during public holidays. In urban areas, daytime services generally follow close to normal timetables, but with fewer options in the evening.
