According to Sky TG24, Italy is maintaining the suspension of the Schengen Agreement at least until August 15th, and Spain has retaliated with controls at ports and airports on travelers arriving from Italian territory. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated: “The risks of terrorism and illegal immigration cannot be underestimated.” Yesterday, Spanish agents checked 199 passengers from third countries on 12 flights. The checks affect between 5% and 15% of passengers, with no reports of queues or serious disruptions.

The crisis involves a dispute between Rome and Madrid following the migration situation in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa.
