According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, passengers arriving from Italy were detained in a corridor of the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport while Civil Guard agents carried out document checks. Without air conditioning and exposed to the heat, the travelers waited without receiving any explanation. One woman was detained for not carrying identification. The operation, according to the publication, affected approximately 10% of the passengers and involved 400 agents mobilized in just a few hours by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

The controls have spread across the airports of Malaga, Seville, and Alicante, in addition to the main terminal in Barcelona. The newspaper points to the measure as a response to the tension between Sánchez and the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, linked to the Ceuta incident.
