According to the RaiNews portal, Giuseppe Campagna, 73, is under house arrest accused of attempted murder after twice running over a group of cyclists in Lanzo Torinese, Piedmont. Four people were injured. Two of the more seriously injured cyclists were airlifted to the CTO hospital in Turin: a 60-year-old man with an open fracture of his left femur and trauma to his face and chest, and a 68-year-old man with trauma to his left shoulder and pelvis. Two others were urgently taken to San Giovanni Bosco Hospital. The remaining three members of the group suffered minor injuries and were in a state of shock.
According to the reconstruction, the driver overtook the group while honking. A cyclist made a disapproving gesture, and Campagna stopped the car, put it in reverse at high speed, and hit the group.
