According to the AISE agency, almost one in two Italian adults, 48,5% of the adult population, will not be taking a vacation this summer. That's 24,2 million people who will remain at home or in their own city during the holiday period. In August, 17,5 million Italians will be on vacation; in September, another 4,7 million. The research was conducted by Tecnè for Federalberghi.

The main reason for dropping out is the family's economic situation, cited by 52,8% of respondents. Difficulties with family organization come in second place (25,7%), followed by health reasons (24,5%). Price increases weighed heavily on 11,2%, and work commitments affected 10,4%.
