Colosseum reopens for nighttime visits, taking the public into the arena and the underground areas.

The Colosseum in Rome reopened its doors after sunset. The program One Night at the Colosseum It reopened on July 14, 2026, and allows visitors to explore the arena and the amphitheater's underground areas at times that are not during the peak daily tourist flow.

Visits take place twice a week, always on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 20 pm and 23 pm. The last entry is at 21:50 pm. Each session lasts about an hour and accommodates a maximum of 25 participants, a reduced number that allows the guides to accompany the group along an itinerary designed for nighttime hours.

How to visit and how much it costs

Reservations are required and must be made through the official website. Archaeological Park of the ColosseumTickets go on sale seven days before the chosen date and are nominative. At the time of entry, the information on the document must match the information provided at the time of purchase.

The full ticket costs 50 euros and includes the Full Experience ticket, at 24 euros, and the guided tour, at 26 euros. The reduced rate is 28 euros, and children under six years old enter for free. Membership Card holders and other categories entitled to free entry still need to purchase the guided tour.

The Full Experience title also grants access to Roman ForumThe validity extends to the Palatine Hill and SUPER sites. The ticket is valid for the day before and the day after the night visit, according to park rules.

What the route shows

Entry is through the Valadier Gate, and the route begins at the northern fornix, which in antiquity was one of the main entrances reserved for the emperor. From the first level of the amphitheater, the group observes the decorative markings preserved along the way.

Within the arena, it's possible to distinguish the entire structure of the cavea, organized to accommodate the public according to a rigid social division. The guides explain the venationes, the hunts with animals, and the munera, the gladiatorial combats that required a complex organization.

The route continues through the underground tunnels, where service corridors, freight elevators, and the systems used to transport men, animals, and scenery to the upper level were located.
