Parliamentarians demand the Italian government issue electronic identity abroad
The Committee for Foreign and Constitutional Affairs, in the Italian Parliament, approved this Tuesday (18) a resolution to demand that the Italian government issue an electronic Identity Card also to Italians residing abroad.
The information was released by Italian-Brazilian congressman Luiz Lorenzato, of the Lega party, on his Facebook profile.
Today, the electronic Identity Card is issued only to citizens residing in Italy and in European Union countries.
Italian-Brazilians, for example, if they wish to have the document, they must request the issuance of the Carta d'identità at their AIRE registration community, that is, they must make an appointment and appear in person at the responsible body in Italy.
Asked by a follower about what is needed to approve the issuance of the electronic Identity Card Abroad, Lorenzato said that “the government lacks will”.
It is worth noting that the document is not valid outside the European Union.
