4 in 10 foreigners prefer Italian food and wine
Research has revealed that in the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and China, approximately 4 out of 10 consumers say that Italian food and wine are the products that most represent "Made in Italy," even more so than fashion, cars, and furniture.
The study was carried out by the Sol&Agrifood fair, in collaboration with the consultancy company Nomisma, and presented at the fair dedicated to the production of olive oils and craft beers held at Veronafiere, until April 10th. According to the analysis, abroad, the Italian food and beverage industry remembers, firstly, the concept of “quality” for around a quarter of foreigners, who, when thinking about Italian food, relate it to “tradition/culture ”, “health” and “style”.
The gastronomic culture products that most attract foreign consumers are pasta and extra virgin olive oil, obviously after pizza.
In general, in the period between 2010 and 2017, exports of Italian products, including fruits, vegetables, cheeses and olive oils, grew by 84%, rising from 1,9 billion to 3,5 billion in 2017.
