Appointments for issuing Italian passports in Curitiba will be made via WhatsApp. The new system goes into effect this Tuesday, February 1st.
According to a note published on the website of the Italian Consulate General in Curitiba, this Monday (31), o new scheduling system via video call, will be experimental and will replace the previous “Prenot@Mi” system.
The change puts an end, for now, to the controversial scheduling system, which was preferred by scheduling mafia. The “service” was sold for up to R$3. There is suspicion of a corrupt scheme involving Italian public agents.
“The implementation of the new system aims to eliminate waiting times and provide fair scheduling to all interested parties”, says the note from the consulate.
For now, the new scheduling system – which is already used at the Italian Consulate in São Paulo – will be used exclusively for the passport sector, according to the note.
To access the service, Italian citizens must complete in person a video call via the WhatsApp application to the number (41) 98784-9869.
Before the video call, interested parties must check the platform FAST IT the following requirements:
- Have already recognized Italian citizenship;
- Be regularly registered in the Consular Register;
- Be up to date with your Consular Civil Registry status: marriage, birth of children or divorce, if applicable.
- Have your residence updated in the Consular Registry.
During the video call the interested party must:
- Present on video a valid identification document (less than 10 years old): ID or Brazilian passport;
- Present proof of current address.
Limited service
The video call scheduling service will initially be available fromMonday to Thursday, from 09am to 12pm.
According to a note published on the website of the Consulate General of Italy in Curitiba, “one call will be answered at a time. If the signal is busy, it is understood that another call is in progress and the interested party must call again”.
Appointments will have a one-week margin. “If the interested party calls on a Wednesday, the scheduled date will refer to the following Wednesday, exclusively. Therefore, we ask that the interested party plan the desired date”, says the note.
