Restaurants in Rome generally operate from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM for lunch and from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM for dinner. Establishments outside these hours tend to offer lower quality food.

Rome's historic district is compact. Landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are within a few minutes' walk of each other. Comfortable shoes are essential for dealing with the uneven pavement.
