With its anti-Covid vaccination campaign at risk of being hampered by “anti-vax” groups, Italy has been betting on alternative strategies to encourage people to get vaccinated against the new coronavirus, especially teenagers.
New tactics include distributing ice cream or tickets to football matches and even creating mobile teams for vaccinations on beaches, as the country is in the midst of the peak summer season.
Almost 60% of the Italian population has already completed vaccination against Covid, while almost 70% is at least partially immunized, but the pace of application of the first doses has fallen in recent weeks.
Em Roma, young people aged 12 to 20 who were vaccinated at the “La Vela” clinic last Thursday (12) won tickets for the friendly match of the club that bears the name of the capital against Raja Casablanca, this Saturday (14), which will be the first duel for the Giallorosso team under the command of José Mourinho at the Olympic Stadium.
In the Piedmont region, anyone who gets vaccinated during the Ferragosto holiday, on the 15th, will receive an ice cream voucher. Across the country, city halls coastal cities will send teams to immunize bathers on the beach during the busiest weekend of the year.
“Even this month, including Ferragosto Day, health agencies have planned a series of initiatives to facilitate access for citizens”, commented Giovanni Migliore, president of the Italian Federation of Health and Hospital Agencies (Fiaso).
These measures target mainly teenagers, as the Italian government wants to accelerate the vaccination of this public before the start of the school year, in September, to avoid any risks of distance classes. (Handle)
