Who are the new billionaires in Italy

During the pandemic, the wealth of a few grew. Here is the updated ranking of Italy's billionaires

Forbes compiled the list of the richest people in the world: in total, the wealth of the super-rich grew 56%, reaching 185 billion euros – almost 1,2 trillion reais.

As regards Italy, the richest people today have the equivalent of the net wealth of 30% of poorest Italians, corresponding to 18 million adults.

At the top of the ranking we find John Ferrero with an estimated net worth of 33,3 billion dollars. 

In second position behind the patron of the Ferrero group, we still find Leonardo DelVecchio, from Luxottica, with 32,4 billion in assets. 

On the lowest step of the podium is the pharmaceutical entrepreneur Stephen Pessina, which precedes Massimiliana Landini Aleotti, from the Menarini Group. 

Fifth place for Giorgio Armani, which is one rank above Silvio Berlusconi in the ranking of richest people in Italy.

In total there are 49 super rich in Italy: among these there are also several new entries.

  • 2. Leonardo DelVecchio – second richest man in Italy and 62nd in the world;
  • 3. Stephen Pessina – third in Italy and 234th in the world;
  • 4. Massimiliana Landini Aleotti – the first woman in classical studies in Italy and the 256th richest person in the world;
  • 5. Giorgio Armani – fifth in Italy and 323rd in the world;
  • 6. Silvio Berlusconi – sixth in Italy, with position 327 in the world ranking;
  • 7. Augusto and Giorgio Perfetti – in seventh place in Italy;
  • 8. Piero Ferrari – eighth place for the prancing horse, and 705th in the world;
  • 9. Gustavo Denegri – according to the world ranking, it is in 550th place;
  • 10. Luca Garavoglia – 680th in the world and last in the Italian top 10.

In the Italian ranking of the richest people (billionaires) there are 13 new people.

  • 22. Alberto Bombassei – with 2,6 billion euros of equity, the founder of the brake system Brembo enter the ranking;
  • 24. John Elkann – with 2,2 billion, Gianni Agnelli's heir occupies 24th position and enters the list of billionaires in the world;
  • 26. Miuccia, Marina and Alberto Prada  – with 2,1 billion (only her sister Miuccia Prada has a net worth of 5 billion);
  • 29. Sergio Stevanato – the manufacturer of glass bottles for medicines enters the ranking with assets of 1,9 billion dollars;
  • 33. and 34. Giuliana and Marina Caprotti  – enter thanks to the expansion of the Esselunga brand with 1,6 billion;
  • 35. Barbara Benetton – with 1,6 billion;
  • 40. and 41. Antonio and Emma Marcegaglia – with 1,3 billion;
  • 45. Nerio Alessandri  – 1,1 billion thanks to the boom in home gyms;
  • 47. Simon Giorgetta  – with 1 billion;
  • 37. and 48. Andrea and Diego Della Valle  – with 1,6 and 1 billion dollars, they close the ranking of new Italian billionaires.
