The priest Pietro Cesena who went viral on Christmas Eve suggesting drinking too much is hospitalized with covid.
Shortly after mass on Christmas Eve, the 62-year-old parish priest of Borgotrebbia, in the province of Piacenza, fell ill and was taken to hospital.
The priest was admitted to the pulmonology department of Piacenza hospital for observation. He was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and tested positive for coronavirus, although his condition does not appear serious.
All the priests and altar boys who officiated at Holy Mass with him, but also all the faithful who were present in the Church, were quarantined.
Dom Cesena is a very famous priest in Italy because of his controversial speeches.
He recently made newspaper headlines when he paid a fine of 400 euros for having celebrated Mass with the faithful present at a time when it was prohibited, due to security measures against Covid-19.

During the homily of Christmas mass, Dom Cesena encourages the faithful to drink wine, while saying that those who don't drink the drink don't go to heaven after dead.
He was applauded by those present, who also laughed.
“Today I invite you to eat well and drink plenty, but not Coca-Cola! Good wine, because wine is a sign of eternal life. In heaven, my brothers, abstainers will not be able to enter, because wine is drunk”, said the parish priest of the region of Emilia-Romagna.
