Italians have already donated 525 million euros to fight coronavirus. Berlusconi donated €10 million. Other major benefactors preferred anonymity.
Without counting the help from small NGOs and local donations, Italy already accounts for almost 525 milhões de euros (around 3 billion reais) in donations to help hospital structures and the needs of those on the front line against Sars-CoV2.
The information is from data room, a research service from the Italian newspaper Corriere, which collected figures provided by Italy's regions and regional civil protections, from large donors, donations made to hospitals by ordinary citizens, institutes and foundations, large NGOs and crowdfunding platforms.
The banks 'Banca Intesa' and 'Banca D'Italia' (the central bank of the Italian Republic) were the largest donors, with €110 million and €35 million respectively. The oil company Eni, the largest Italian industrial company, was the third biggest contributor – it disbursed €23 million. Politician and billionaire Silvio Berlusconi donated €10 million.
The amounts collected were recorded until this Tuesday (21).
