Former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said he is awaiting a ruling from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg before taking office as Italy's political leader.
The hearings on the appeal presented by the former premier were concluded at the end of last year, but there is no deadline for the European Court to announce the final verdict. Berlusconi's defense appealed a decision by the Italian Senate that, in 2013, stripped him of his political rights until 2019 after the former premier was convicted of tax fraud.
For the elections on March 4th, the right-wing coalition that brings together the FI, the far-right Northern League and the Fratelli d'Italia.
