Containers that will contain the coronavirus vaccine will be produced in Veneto
The vaccine is not yet scheduled to reach the market, but vials have already started to be produced. And there are billions of them.
Most of the pharmaceutical glass containers that will reach the four corners of the world, with the miracle solution, it will be produced in Italy, more precisely in Veneto.
Governments around the world are ordering hundreds of millions and are pressuring producers to increase production capacity.
According to some estimates, global demand for vials will double over the next two years.
And among these suppliers is Stevanato Group, which is based in the small Piombino Dese, in the province of Padua.
Founded in 1949, the group is the largest producer of glass packaging for the pharmaceutical industry of the world, and to face the Covid-19 emergency (and the high demand for vaccine vials) it increased the level of production.
“We are used to supplying several hundred million parts to large pharmaceutical companies,” said general director Franco Stevanato, in an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera, this Friday (11).
“We have machines that work 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, with fully automatic processes”, added the CEO.
According to him, the estimate is to produce 2 billion vials for the first round of vaccinations.
