If you're planning your trip to Italy this year, there's a new name that needs to be on your itinerary: tracks. Located in province of Macerata, in the Marche region (Brands), a village of just 9,5 inhabitants, has just been elected the most beautiful village in Italy.
Take a virtual tour of Cingoli 👇🏻
The “Terrace of Brands”
The nickname is no coincidence. Cingoli rests on Mount Circe, the 631 meters of altitudeIts strategic location offers one of the most expansive and breathtaking views in central Italy, allowing one to see from the peaks of the Apennines to, on clear days, the Adriatic Sea.
What makes Cingoli a unique place?
The jury and the public of the competition highlighted the authenticity of the village, which has managed to preserve its medieval soul away from mass tourism:
- Gothic architecture: The Collegiate Church of Sant'Esuperanzio (13th century) is a jewel of the Gothic style.
- Walls and palaces: The historic center is surrounded by medieval walls and dotted with 17th-century buildings, such as the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
- Nature tourism: Besides its history, the village is a hub for lovers of hiking and outdoor activities.
For Mayor Michele Vittori, the title is a recognition of the local quality of life. “Today, Cingoli is recognized throughout the country as an example of authenticity, hospitality and quality of life. We will continue to work with determination to value our heritage, strengthen the tourism offer and take full advantage of the opportunities that this title will bring us,” he said after the final last Sunday (5).
