Data from 98% of the population
The National Resident Population Register database currently collects data on 98% of the Italian population, with 7.808 municipalities already adherent and the remainder in the process of being updated.
This is specified in the note from the Ministries of the Interior and Innovation and Sogei, which states that the 5,7 million people on the Registry of Italians Resident Abroad (Aire) are also part of the platform.
Overall, more than 59 million residents in Italy are already covered and online registration will be completed during the year.
Furthermore, on the portal it is possible to monitor the progress of the accession process of Italian municipalities.
Historical certificates cannot be requested on the new platform. Anyone who needs an Italian birth certificate to complete the citizenship recognition process, for example, will still depend on the suffocating Italian bureaucracy.
