The European Union maintains a free Italian course The online platform is open to interested parties from any country. The content is located on the platform. EU Academy and it covers the initial levels, A1 and A2.

Access is free and has no fixed hours. Students progress at their own pace, with practical lessons and exercises, and only need to create a free account on the EU Login system.

What the platform offers

The course is part of the program. Online Language Support (OLS), an initiative of the European Commission. The page brings together introductory videos, quizzes and courses at A1 (beginner) and A2 (intermediate) levels.

The same structure exists for 30 languages, including Italian. Navigation allows you to change the interface language to Portuguese, English, French, German, Spanish and... Italian.

Who can participate

The EU Academy offers two pathways to learning Italian. The first, called “Discover the Italian language with OLS”It has open access and serves anyone interested.

The second, “My Italian Course A1" and "A2", it appears described as being aimed at program participants Erasmus + and the European Solidarity Corps. Those seeking free access should follow the first option.

A1 and A2 are levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A1 corresponds to the initial stage, with basic everyday expressions. A2 indicates an elementary level, with simple sentences on familiar topics.
