“Mobility Valley” was designed to facilitate sustainable mobility in Italy and revive the economy
120 million euros. This is the amount that the Italian government will make available to citizens who wish to buy a bicycle.
The measure is part of the decree announced this Wednesday (13), which aims to revive Italy's economy after the coronavirus pandemic - covid-19. In all, the Italian government will inject 55 billion euros – around 368 billion reais – in actions for commerce, industry and tourism.
"The valley of mobility” worth up to 500 euros, already renamed by the media as “bicycle bonus”, covers 60% of expenses for the purchase of “personal mobility vehicles powered mainly by electricity”, such as bicycles and electric scooters, scooters, Segways, hoverboards, monowheels, among others, and can be requested only once by the citizen and will be valid until December 31, 2020.
The aim of the proposal is to facilitate sustainable mobility (with a special focus on mobility on two wheels) and an alternative to public transport, especially during peak hours, due to the risk of contamination.
Who has the right?
The bonus – up to 500 euros – can be used by all adult citizens residing in municipalities with a population of more than 50 thousand inhabitantsincluding those who live in the metropolitan areas of large cities, such as Rome and Milan, for example.
How is the bonus paid?
It has not yet been clarified how the bonus will be paid. There will likely be an online platform where the buyer and seller can access, according to Corriere publication.
In fact, after the purchase, by uploading the receipt that certifies the purchase, the bonus would be credited to a virtual account to be spent on other mobility-related products, including season tickets for public transport.
Alternatively, the merchant makes the discount directly to the buyer and recovers the difference through the sales documents.
