Project seeks to preserve memory of traditional Italian dishes
You know that one recipe from Italian grandfathers and grandmothers? That cannot be lost in any way?
That's what makes the Pasta Grannies (“pasta grandmas”, in free translation). On their YouTube channel, they teach traditional Italian recipes, and of course, they add a special touch of seasoning, which is particular to each family.
On air since 2014, the channel has been seen by millions of people and has almost 690 thousand followers.
The most watched video is from nonna Maria and her daughter Paola, from Faenza, in Emilia Romagna and Lombardy. The two teach you how to make a delicious lasagna.

Every Friday there is a new recipe from Italian grandfathers and grandmothers on the channel. The videos are recorded in Italian, with narration in English. But it is possible to enable subtitles in Portuguese, in the YouTube.
Created by American Vicky Bennison, the channel was inspired by her books about Italian cuisine.
“I realized that cooking skills were not being passed on to new generations,” Bennison said.
“Of course, these preparations are not going to die, but they have become more of a commercial and industrial activity than a domestic activity.”
“Everyone thinks that their nonna (grandmother, in Italian) cooks better. But what will Nonna cook in 20 years? The men and women of Italy are too busy these days to spend time in the kitchen,” she concluded.
