It has been a difficult few years for tourism, due to the pandemic and the closure of borders. But now visitors are returning to Italy to discover its many wonders. 

In fact, Italy continues at the top of the favorite destinations for European tourists: between art cities and small authentic villages, it is truly difficult to choose a holiday that meets all your needs. 

But what are travelers' favorite places for 2023? The new ranking prepared by the portal Vamonos-Vacanze.it reveals to us.

According to the results of an online survey conducted with 4 international visitors aged between 18 and 65, Italy is among the most sought after destinations.

78% of French people would like to plan a trip to Italy, followed by 73% of Germans, 66% of English people and 54% of Dutch people. Then we find the Swiss (48%), the Austrians (43%) and the Spanish (35%). 

At the intercontinental level, Italy is the chosen destination (among those who decided to travel to Europe) by 60% of Americans, 58% of Brazilians and 49% of Chinese. 

Next are Indians (45%), South Koreans (42%), Japanese (41%) and Argentines (35%).

In tenth place in the ranking, we find the city of Siena with 50% of preferences: famous for its Palio, it is one of the most suggestive destinations in Tuscany, where you can admire beautiful monuments and taste many typical specialties.

9. Genoa

We fly to Liguria in ninth place: with 51% of preferences it is Genova, a splendid port city with characteristic alleys that boast incredible charm. It also houses one of the largest aquariums in Italy and an international nautical exhibition.

Turin occupies eighth place, chosen by 53% of tourists: a city rich in history and wonderful monuments, here it is like going back in time. In recent months, it has attracted many tourists thanks to the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 which he organized.

7.Verona

It is one of the cities of love par excellence. Verona, in seventh position, attracts 54% of international travelers. Retracing the steps Romeo and Juliet, the two most famous lovers in the world, you can visit the historic center and arrive in front of the splendid Arena.

sixth place for Milan , chosen by 55% of foreign tourists. It is a modern and charming city, appreciated above all for its fashion and shopping streets, but also for its splendid architecture.

With 57% of preferences, the city of Pisa incredibly, it takes fifth place. It is most famous for its leaning tower, which has become a symbol of the entire Toscana and often even from Italy (at least in the imagination of foreign tourists).

The narrow streets that run in the shadow of Vesuvius, overlooking a crystal clear sea, have become Nápoles so loved by travelers. In fourth place, the Neapolitan city is chosen by 62% of tourists who want to have an authentic experience (and, of course, taste real pizza).

Here we are on the podium: in third place we find Venice, which is, by far, one of the favorite destinations for travelers from all over the world. The charm of a gondola ride to discover its most beautiful monuments is irresistible.

Second position for Florence, with 68% of preferences. Cradle of art and timeless culture, the city is famous for its many museums and the architecture that beautifies its historic center.
