Among his influences is classical roman architecture, marked by the presence of columns and domes. The Etruscans collaborated with arches and vaults and the Byzantines influenced them with domes.
Another influence of the Greeks is the use of marble, found in several Roman temples. You Temples in Paestum and Temple of Hercules Victor are examples of classic works.
One of the most famous works of Roman architecture is the Coliseum in Rome. The huge amphitheater began to be built in the year 72 AD and it took a while 8 years to be completed.
Italian Renaissance in culture
The Renaissance period in Europe, a strong movement in Florença, between the 14th and 16th centuries, impacted arts, philosophy and science. In architecture, it is characterized by clear and rational lines. Some examples:

Baroque style in Italian architecture
Baroque architecture was born in Rome and had a strong presence in the 16th to 18th centuries. Predominant style in churches, it was marked by elaborate details, grandeur and precious materials.

Some examples: Trevi Fountain, Sant'Agnese in Agone, San Marcello al Corso e San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane.
Modern architecture
Modern Italian architecture has classic and monumental works, such as the Velasca Tower. Italy's first skyscraper, built between 1956 and 1957 by architects Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers.

Some famous Italian architects do not have so many expressive works in Italy, such as Renzo Piano and Lina Bo Bardi.
Other examples of modern architecture: Jubilee Church, by Richard Meier and National Museum of 21st Century Art, by Zaha Hadid.
Italian architecture in Brazil
In Brazil, Italian architecture can be seen in works such as the Matarazzo Building, headquarters of the city of São Paulo since 2004. Built in a simplified neoclassical style, the project was revised by the Italian architect Marcello Piacentini.
Another example is the Santa Ifigênia Viaduct, designed by the Italians Giuseppe Chiappori e Giulio Michetti and opened in 1913. It has concrete bases and metal arches, which give the impression of lightness.
