Mayor Luiz Fernando Machado highlighted the importance of the project. “In addition to learning a third language, students will learn about a fundamental part of the history of Jundiaí, which was colonized by Italians.

With the market becoming increasingly competitive, encouraging language learning is also a way of preparing our children to face the challenges of the future”, he stated. In addition to Italian and, of course, Portuguese, students from Jundiaí take English classes from the age of four.

A study carried out by the linguistics organization SIL International, based in the United States, revealed that the Italian became in 2018 the fourth most studied language in the world, surpassing French.

The language of “boot country” appears behind only English, Spanish and Mandarin. “In Jundiaí alone we have 14 companies with Italian origins and there are hundreds throughout the state. Therefore, whoever chooses to continue studying the language will have a good job market ahead of them”, added Luiz Fernando.
