The flag airline of Italy ITA Airways confirmed the schedule for the resumption of direct flights between Rome and São Paulo starting in June.
According to the company, departures from Guarulhos will become daily in August, at the height of the high summer season in Europe, while Italy is expecting a full recovery in tourism after two years of crisis caused by the pandemic.
The first flight between São Paulo and Fiumicino, on the outskirts of Rome, will take off at 14:25 pm on June 2, with the code AZ0675 (the same letters used by the old Alitalia).
Until June 12th, there will be flights on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Then, until August 2nd, ITA will add a flight on Tuesdays, always at the same time. From then on, departures will be daily.
Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) is a state-owned airline created by the Italian government to definitively overcome the chronic crisis at the now extinct Alitalia, which ceased operating in October 2021.
ITA even purchased the brand from its predecessor at auction for 90 million euros, but decided to keep the new name. (Handle)
