Among the topics that the collegiate intends to address is the situation of Brazilians in Italy and Italians in Brazil
Federal Deputy Rubens Bueno (PPS-PR) was reelected this Wednesday (20) as president of the Brazil-Italy parliamentary group, which has the mission of strengthening ties between the two countries and acting on issues of mutual interest. The parliamentarians will meet after Carnival to detail the Action Plan that will guide the group's meetings, debates and deliberations throughout the year, a topic that will also be discussed with the Italian Ambassador to Brazil, Antonio Bernardini, in the coming weeks.
The group's leadership, which currently has 40 parliamentarians, is made up of, in addition to Rubens Bueno, vice-presidents Carlos Zarattini (PT-SP), Vinicius Carvalho (PRB-SP) and Evandro Roman (PSD-PR); secretary Flávia Arruda (PR-DF) and treasurer Laércio Oliveira (PP-SE).

Among the topics that the collegiate intends to address is the situation of Brazilians in Italy and Italians in Brazil. Currently, around 73 thousand Brazilians reside in Italy. The deputies drew attention to the pressure faced by Italy, within the European Union, to increase restrictions on the legal entry of Brazilians into the continent.
“This is a topic that will be included in our Action Plan. Italy has a great interest in raising the level of relations, and opportunities are present in all areas. In this sense, we will also work to support Brazilians seeking Italian citizenship,” noted Rubens Bueno.
Carlos Zarattini and Paula Belmonte (PPS-DF) also highlighted the importance of the group in dedicating itself to this topic. “It is essential that the group maintains a close and permanent dialogue with the Italian Parliament to prevent the current law from being changed, which will create enormous difficulties for Brazilians of Italian descent”, warned Zarattini.
“I view this situation with great concern and we will maintain a constant dialogue with the Italian authorities”, added Flávia.
IMMIGRATION
In addition to consular issues, the group will also focus on immigration, combating crime, Defense and investments, among others. Vinicius Carvalho, for example, suggested that the group work to ensure that Italian language teaching is offered in Brazilian schools.
Eros Biondini (PROS-MG), defended greater cooperation on social issues such as recovery programs for drug addicts, as well as a strategic approach with Italian consulates in Brazil. Rodrigo Coelho (PSB-SC) wants to rescue and strengthen Italian culture among Brazilians through partnerships with the “Italian Circles”.
Deputies Baleia Rossi (MDB-SP), Carmen Zanotto (PPS-SC), Luciano Ducci and Luiz Antônio Corrêa (DC-RJ) also participated in this Wednesday's meeting.
