Number of young people who do not study or work exceeds 3 million
A recent study carried out by the European Union Statistics Office (Eurostat) showed that the number of young Italians between the ages of 20 and 34 who do not study or work is the highest among the countries of the European bloc.
Despite having shown a drop in relation to last year, Italy remains at the top of the ranking with 28,9%, closely followed by Greece, which has 26,8%.
With this number, Italy is far from the averages of the European Union (16,5%) and the euro zone (17,2%). According to Eurostat, Sweden (8,0%) and the Netherlands (8,4%) were the countries with the lowest rates.
Combining data from Eurostat with that from the National Statistics Institute (Istat), the number of young people in Italy who are neither studying nor working exceeds 3 million.
