Prologue of the new film in the James Bond saga will be shot in the commune of Matera, in southern Italy

Production on Bond 25, the new film in the James Bond saga, has begun preparations for the start of filming, scheduled for July in Italy. Filming will take place in the city of Matera, in Basilicata, southern Italy.

Bond 25 will have a prologue similar to that of 007 Against Spectre, which took place in Mexico City, during the Day of the Dead celebration.

The recordings are expected to involve around 500 people and are expected to take place at the end of July. Matera is known for being used in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

Bond 25 will be Daniel Craig's last film as secret agent James Bond, after Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Operation Skyfall and Spectre.

Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux and Ralph Fiennes also reprise their roles from the previous films.

Cary Fukunaga ended up being chosen to direct Bond 25. The director is best known for the first season of True Detective and the Netflix film Beasts of No Nation. The script is written by Scott Z. Burns, who should finish the work started by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
