The conference, which ended this Friday (13), was promoted by the Italian government and organized by the Instituto Ítalo-Latino Americano (IILA). The Event, which represents one of the main instruments of Italian foreign policy in relation to the region, aimed to highlight the relevance of the strategic relationship between Italy and Latin America, with special emphasis on economic issues and raw materials.
The event attracted the attention of politicians, diplomats, experts and embassy representatives. Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired this year's conference, which sought to strengthen political ties between Italy and Latin America and jointly address changing global challenges. Among these challenges, the climate crisis, value chains, energy and food security stood out.
the deputy Fabio Porta, representing the Foreign Affairs Committee, emphasized the importance of the conference in his intervention. He recalled that during the seventeenth legislature, Parliament approved a law making this important instrument of international cooperation and foreign policy permanent.
Porta also highlighted the historic role of Latin America as a projection of Italy on the other side of the Atlantic, a region that can contribute to strengthening economic and cultural complementarities between the two territories, especially considering that Latin America is home to the largest community of Italians. descendants.
The conference promoted by the Italian-Latin American Institute (IILA) was born in 2003 in Milan, as a meeting with mainly economic and business purposes, acquiring a political and intergovernmental dimension from the third edition in 2007.
It represents the culminating moment of Italy's dialogue with the Latin American and Caribbean regions. Since then, it has represented the culmination of encounter and cooperation between Italy, as an entire national system, and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, with which it maintains deep historical, cultural, political and economic ties.
