More than 40 people have died since the start of the pandemic
Italy broke a new record on Friday. The Italian civil protection revealed that 37.809 new cases of Covid-19 were identified and 446 people died in the last 24 hours.
The country records 862.681 infected people and has already passed the mark of 40 thousand deaths caused by Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic (at this point there are 40.638 victims).
Italian authorities reported that a further 10.586 people have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total to 322.925.
The number of positive cases currently stands at 499.118, of which more than 472 are in home isolation.
There are still 24.005 people hospitalized with symptoms associated with Covid-19, including 2.515 patients who are in intensive care units.
Lombardy once again became the Italian region that recorded the highest number of new cases. In the last 24 hours, more than nine thousand cases of contagion were detected in Lombardia.
