According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Italian teacher who became known worldwide after a video on the Bangkok subway claims that the images were manipulated. She says that the Thai passenger cut parts of the recording that would show her efforts to calm the group of 41 students, aged between 14 and 15, and repeatedly asked the woman to stop filming because they were minors.
In the video that circulated, the teacher appears saying, "Sorry if I bring money to your country," a phrase she admits was a mistake. She explains that the passenger had removed the preceding verbal provocation from the video. The episode ended with a fine of a few dozen euros after formal apologies were accepted by local authorities.
