According to the RaiNews portal, the heat alert has been raised again in Italy even after the drop in temperatures recorded after Ferragosto, according to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health. Much of the peninsula still shows a green dot, 21 cities are at level zero out of 27 monitored, and six are under yellow pre-alert dots. On August 19th, the first orange dots will appear in Ancona and Rome, and on August 20th Bari, Bologna, and Campobasso will be added, bringing the total to five cities at level 2.
The Ministry of Health's risk assessment system, using a color-coded system, classifies the risk of heat waves for the population. Level 2 indicates weather conditions that may pose a health risk, especially to the most vulnerable groups. As of August 20th, there are still 14 yellow dots, including Brescia, Catania, Florence, Palermo, Perugia, Venice, and Verona, and eight green dots, including Bolzano, Cagliari, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Turin, and Trieste.
The subtropical anticyclone paves the way for more unstable currents. On August 18th, the showers move south, with breaks in the rain across the rest of the country. From August 20th onwards, models indicate a more structured disturbance, from the Northwest to the entire North and the Tyrrhenian sectors, with a risk of strong storms and hail.
